Val Mira is set on a winery on the Renon, above the Isarco Valley between Bolzano and Bressanone. The two towers were designed by Andreas Gruber, who had already realised Habitat L, their own home at the farm, together with Sophia and Stefan.
The towers are compact in plan and generous in feeling: three floors, clean materials, plenty of light and a pool resting quietly in the landscape.
Living, cooking and sitting outside below. Bathing in the middle. Sleeping above. In between, stairs, views and small transitions lead through the house.
The towers
Two towers, one idea, a slightly different view. Each tower has around 75 m² across three levels: living and cooking below, bathing in the middle, sleeping above.
The interior stays quiet without becoming generic: linen bedding, brushed brass in the kitchen, copper fittings, selected furniture, calm tiles and care products from a Merano manufactory. Plus small details you may not photograph immediately, but would miss after two days.

Tower I is set on the pool side and opens directly outdoors. Living and cooking below, bathing in the middle, sleeping above with a view into the Isarco Valley. For two guests, the tower feels generous. In the living area there is an additional sleeping option in case you arrive as three or four.

Tower II is set slightly more quietly towards the farm and vineyard side. The pool is just a few steps away, and the terrace opens towards the green. The structure remains the same: three levels, plenty of light, clean materials. The sleeping area at the top looks towards the Sciliar. For couples, small families or guests who prefer a little more privacy.

Architecture thought from the place itself.
Val Mira consists of only two towers. No lobby, no long corridors, no room numbers, no holiday complex around it. Just two retreats on the hillside, a winery, an infinity pool and the Renon, with a view into the Isarco Valley as far as Königsanger.
Cool off in the pool during the day, go hiking, take a short trip into the old lanes of Bolzano or Bressanone. In the evening, return to the tower as the light slowly disappears from the valley.

Design
Val Mira was designed by Andreas Gruber. Sophia and Stefan know his work well: with Habitat L, he had already realised their own home at the farm.
From the outside, the towers feel reduced, almost strict. Inside, they become warmer: wood, light, floating stairs, precisely placed openings and a constant shift between closeness and openness.
The rooms work with proportion, material, light and view. Not much more is needed here.
The details are precisely placed: freestanding bathtub, brushed brass in the kitchen, copper fittings, selected light switches and calm tiles.
For guests who notice when a light switch was not chosen by chance.
Sustainability
Built with sense.
Val Mira was not planned as a grand sustainability promise. Many things are simply solved in the way that makes sense here: compact structures, durable materials, technology in the background and short routes where they were useful.
CasaClima Gold
The two towers meet the CasaClima Gold standard, with a highly insulated building envelope, efficient technology and particularly low energy demand in operation.
Heat pump
Heating and hot water run on an efficient heat pump. No oil, no gas, with technology working quietly in the background.
Photovoltaics at the farm
Part of the energy demand is covered by photovoltaics directly at the farm. The technology remains present without disturbing the architecture of the towers.
Saltwater pool
The pool is maintained through salt electrolysis instead of conventional chlorine tablets. The water feels gentle and chemical handling is reduced.
Local materials
Where it made sense, Sophia, Stefan and Andreas Gruber worked with regional materials and local craftspeople. Short routes, good execution, things allowed to last.
Low-emission paints
The interiors were painted with low-emission paints, without harmful solvents or plasticisers. A quiet decision, but an important one.
The location
Val Mira lies on the Isarco Valley side of the Renon, between Bolzano and Bressanone. The view does not look towards the city, but into the valley: vines, woodland, slopes, sky.
The farm is quietly located, but not remote. Bolzano, Bressanone, hiking paths, inns and small villages remain easy to reach.
Up here, South Tyrol shows itself more quietly: vineyards, old paths, woodland and that clear Renon air for which people from Bolzano used to come up for summer retreat.
Guests arriving without a car, or who prefer not to drive every route themselves, can use a private shuttle by arrangement.

A quiet place above Barbiano. Three small churches, old paths, woodland and a kind of South Tyrol best understood on foot.

Not directly on the Renon, but close enough for a beautiful outing. Water, woodland, stone and a loop that feels good even on warm days.

A Renon classic, for good reason. Strangely beautiful, almost unreal and a little different every time depending on the light.

For slow days, good shoes and autumn, when the paths smell of leaves, wood and a little smoke.

Not exactly around the corner, but once you arrive at the top, you quickly understand why the journey is worth it.
The hosts
Sophia and Stefan run the farm on the Renon. Sauvignon, Riesling and Gewürztraminer grow on the slopes. Their everyday life here is closely connected to the landscape: vines, work, weather, architecture.
With Habitat L, an architectural place had already emerged at the farm and gained attention far beyond the Renon. Val Mira continues that idea: two towers for guests, directly by the vineyard, close to the farm and still entirely their own.
Sophia and Stefan are there when needed. With recommendations, an eye for detail and enough restraint to keep the stay light.
